Matt Buck is a freelance illustrator and fine artist hailing from Long Island. It was many moons ago when he first discovered his love for drawing. The year was 1993 and Tim Burton's classic film, The Nightmare Before Christmas, had just been released. The young Matt was enthralled with the images that had just been forever scarred into his retinas. As soon as he got home from the theater, he immediately set about drawing as many of the characters as he could remember, as well as creating a handful of his own. He has not stopped drawing since that day.
His primary influences are N.C. Wyeth, Arthur Rackham, Dean Cornwell, Albrecht Dürer, Mike Mignola, and Frank Frazetta. Matt began his training as an artist in earnest while he was still in high school at The Stevenson Academy Of Fine Arts. There he was mentored by the renowned NASA illustrator, Attila Hejja, for 3 years.
In 2011 he graduated from the Ringling College of Art & Design with a BFA in Illustration. After nearly two years of working as a full-time commercial storyboard artist, he gave up the comfort of a steady paycheck to further his career as a fine artist/illustrator.
