James Alicea is a New York City-based graphic designer and artist, also known as BlusterOne. He recalls Sesame Street as an early inspiration as he shares his humor, wisdom and occasional rhymes while painting and drawing his bio- morphed letter forms, monsters and other shady characters. His hand-drawn typography which he has dubbed “LETTERISMS” can be seen throughout a majority of his work. As a longtime member of artist collective The Barnstormers, James’ paintings have been captured in time-lapse films and exhibited in several museums and throughout Japan and the U.S. James began building his career in graphic design early with experience he picked up at New York City graffiti Mecca the High School of Art & Design. In 1987, not long after graduation, James co-founded the successful graffiti- inspired clothing line PNB Nation. This pioneering urban brand became an early blueprint for many who followed. In 2000, James co-founded Tokyo- based fashion brand AndSuns. In addition to his own design projects, over the years James has created logos for Shady Records, Sirius Radio, Comedy Central, Bobbito’s BOUNCE magazine logo, TheGAP and many others.
